On Thursday 22nd March, the Ninth annual Stonewall Equality Dinner was held at the Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane, London. Lovegirls were there to see the stars arrive for the event which raised over £230,000 for ongoing campaigns against homophobia.
Keynote speaker, Prime Minister Tony Blair, congratulated Stonewall on their work so far to achieve Gay and Lesbian equality. "For any country that is to succeed in the future, you make the most of the talents and abilities of your people; allowing discrimination to fester is a complete rejection of that modernising and civilising notion." he said.
"The last ten years have seen some tremendous changes, such as civil partnership and lowering the age of consent. This would not have happened without Stonewall which has played a fundamental and insufficiently recognised part in achieving equality. What they have done is remarkable and we could not have managed it without them" he added.
We met with several stars on the night including Olivia Hallinan and Lenora Chrichlow, Kim and Sugar from C4 lesbian drama Sugar Rush. The girls signed a lovegirls mousemat which we will be offering in forthcoming competition. We also met Sara Stewart from the show who was looking fabulous!

We also chatted with Sarah Waters, whose novel 'Tipping the Velvet' was a major BBC drama in 2002 and Amy Lame, presenter at the Stonewall Dinner. All in all, a fantastic night!
