If the idea of paradise is lying spread eagled on the beach, whilst basking in the sun with naked lesbians either side of you then the Greek island of Lesbos may well be the place for you.
Birth place of poet, teacher and randy bisexual Sappho, the island has been attracting gay women to its golden shores for well over 50 years. Lesvos, or Lesbos as it is also known is the third largest of the Greek islands and sits idyllically in the Aegean Sea, boasting stunning volcanic rocks, amazing, fresh water rivers, and more importantly, row upon row of continental muff.
Just as it’s the duty of all good Muslims to take a pilgrimage to Mecca once in there life time, similarly a stay in Lesbos whether brief or long term is a must for any self respecting vagina worshiping gay girl.
On arrival to the island head straight for Skala Eressos, built on a valley floor and surrounded by mini mountains this is where the lesbian bars, nude beach and women only accommodation is located. The town itself is a two hour breathtaking (and sometimes pants filling) taxi ride along narrow winding mountain roads from island capital Mytilini. Of course it would be sensible to try and experience the whole of Lesbos but why waste your hard earned Euros mingling with the hetros when you can head straight to the mother ship.
Skala Eressos itself is tiny, consisting of a few streets surrounding the town centre and overlooking a 3 mile long beach. don’t let that put you off however, there are at least 30 lesbians for every square foot and more then enough Greek salad and hummus to go around.
Accommodation is plentiful and you should not have a problem finding a women only hotel. The Mascot is a stones throw away from the beach and offers clean rooms with large balconies. The Antiopi Hotel is another favourite, and if you don’t mind a bit of live stock running past your window then your settle in nicely. Generally you will pay between £25 to £35 per night depending on the time of year.

In the evening the town comes alive and you will find everyone relaxing, indulging in a little shopping or enjoying a late dinner over looking the sea. As far as night life on the island goes, if your heading to Lesbos in the hope of getting pissed, dancing your tits off and getting it on with some random in the toilets you may well be disappointed, its not the Candy Bar so don’t expect to catch crabs straight away.
There are only three exclusively lesbian bars in Skala Eressos which also act as restaurants during the day. They tend to come alive after 10pm and hold different events on each day of the week, e.g quiz nights, karaoke, live band etc, not too exciting admittedly but it’s a great chance to meet other people. The major disadvantage of Lesbos is that everyone seems to be in a couple, or 50 years of age, so unless you are brave enough to try and split the couples up you might find yourself having to sleep with a granny or two.
Any frustration you experience with the night life on the island should be out weighed by the spectacle that is the nude beach.
Located at the end of the pier, the nude beach is carpeted end to end with naked women. With erect nipples and saggy fanny flaps lesbians unashamedly strut up and down the beach stopping only to a compare each others bush, not always a good idea when you get to the German section, it seems the whole nation has yet to discover the Bic Razor.
If the idea of total public nudeness intimidates you, you will be relieved to know that not everyone goes buff, and there is no pressure whether you want to or not.
So although Lesbos may not be the fuck fest some might wish for, its still a beautiful island with lots to offer. Your be sure to meet plenty of like minded women and your be amazed at just how friendly and welcoming everyone is. The climate is heavenly and the scenery gorgeous so if you can cope with muff not quite being on tap then you will be certain to have a great time and return year after year.

Love Girls

I worked a bar in Skala in 2002 with my best mate... had an wickedtime! We were 19 and 23 at the time and there were plently of girls to play with :) It's not as crazy now as the documentary by Candybar made it out to be in 2001... But it is an awesome place, the volleyball/football tournaments on the beach at sundown are legendary and a great place to make mates and work up a good beer thirst!
I wanna go back!
