Sam I agree with you completely, if girls are only encouraged to play the less popular (in the
media)sports how are we ever going to get coverage? Media needs advertising so the sports that
are watched most receive the most money. As football rugby etc are still so male dominated and
watched by hetty men for entertainment and hetty women for kicks, womens sport doesnt attract
the advertisers. We need to support local and national womens sport so that companies see it as
an attractive place to advertise - that's when we'll see more coverage.

The media is dominated by men, therefore they are not interested in womens sport unless it
involves tight fitting tops with short skirts (volleyball & tennis). The sports which are
glorified are the ones in which do not inferiorise men. Sport is perceived as a male domain,
how they aspire to be the whole masculinity & hegamony, however women are proving themselves in
all sport as the opportunities are there. When they women athletes reach elite level for
example football, the funds are not available due to sponsorship. The media overide womens
sport and class it 2nd best to men, due to them not fitting in their stereotypical gender role.
It's mens territory & it will be like that until big sponsorship deals grab womens sport. Look
at the National curriculum of PE lads get to participate in the money sports which are used
after school, the girls have to participate in the sports that are not used, rounders, netball,
dance non in which are seen in todays media. Phew! girls keep it up!

I think media coverage of female sports needs to increase, but its not going to any time in the
near future.
I'm a football referee, and until recently refused to ref female matches
because they are too aggressive... i lapsed recently and loved it, since then i have taken time
out to go and watch more female matches live. They are just as entertaining as
mens.
I do however think that there are some sports in which women gain more coverage,
whether it be for teh wrong reasons or not, like tennis!

I think its only fair that women get the same coverage as men on anything that they do whether
its sport or anything else.

i think that there is some coverage of womens sports i would like to c more but i am sure if
there was a call for it or a gap in the market so to speak then people like richard branson
would have picked up on it by now and made some money!
